Functionality

The float switch based on a reed contact uses a reed switch as the switching element. It consists of a float with a magnet that floats on the liquid. When the liquid level changes, the float moves and the magnet approaches the reed contact, which is made of two ferromagnetic blades placed in a glass capsule. These blades are separated by a small air gap. When the magnet reaches the reed contact, the blades attract each other and close the circuit, sending a signal, such as to trigger an alarm or control a motor.

The Bi-metal switch, made of two metal strips with different coefficients of thermal expansion, detects temperature changes through deformation when a certain threshold is reached. This deformation triggers a mechanical movement that opens or closes the electrical contact. When the switch is open, the circuit is interrupted to prevent overheating. When the switch is closed, current flows to activate, for example, a fan or heating element.
